Showcase Support

Showcases, playoffs and other high-level tournaments where scouts are in attendance are an important part of the college recruiting process.

They give you an opportunity to compete in front of college coaches, but their value also depends on preparation before the event and communication afterward. Eastside FC coordinates this work across players, coaches, directors, staff and parent volunteers.

Players remain responsible for researching schools, contacting college coaches and following through. The club supports those efforts by organizing information, preparing coaching staff, maintaining college relationships and helping players understand their next steps.

Our goal for showcases, it to create a simple, repeatable system that allows Eastisde to know:

  1. Who was there?

  2. Who watched whom?

  3. What interest exists?

  4. What follow-up occurred?

  5. What happens next?

Before the Showcase

Eastside will share preparation timelines, expectations and available information about attending college programs. Staff will coordinate recruiting tools, review roster information and organize parent volunteers who will help collect college coach attendance.

Coaches and directors will review attending programs, discuss players’ recruiting priorities and connect with college coaching contacts. Players should keep their team coach informed about target schools, responses they have received and any active recruiting conversations. This helps staff understand where additional guidance or outreach may be useful.

Players should arrive with an updated SportsRecruits profile, current video and a researched school list. Outreach before the event should explain their interest in each program and provide the information a college coach needs to find and evaluate them, including their match schedule.

During the Showcase

The team coach’s primary responsibility is to prepare the team and manage matches. Coaches will also provide player information and honest evaluations when approached by college coaches or when a relevant conversation can take place.

ECNL directors will be accessible to college coaches, maintain relationships and provide additional context about players. Advocacy may include answering questions, introducing college coaches to team staff or discussing a player who could fit a program’s needs. Staff should respect the evaluation process and avoid interrupting coaches while they are watching matches.

Recruiting staff and assigned parent volunteers will support attendance tracking and collect objective information. Players should focus on competing, supporting their teammates and representing themselves professionally.

After the Showcase

After an event, Eastside will share recorded college coach attendance to help players plan follow-up. Attendance indicates that a program was represented at a match; it does not establish which player a coach was watching or their level of interest.

Direct feedback from a college coach is different from an attendance record. When staff receive meaningful feedback, they will share it through the appropriate coaching conversations. Players and families should use the available information to guide outreach without assuming that attendance alone signals a recruiting opportunity.

Staff will communicate next steps and remind players to follow up with college programs. Directors will continue relevant recruiting conversations, share meaningful feedback with team coaches and consider potential opportunities. Coaches will help players interpret feedback, review development priorities and determine what to do next.

Players should send follow-up messages, share relevant video and update their recruiting activity. They should also keep their Eastside coach informed as conversations progress. Depending on what they learn, their next steps may include continued outreach, further development or changes to their school list.

The club will retain event information to support future preparation and improve the process over time.
