About Coach
Troy
Originally from Montana, Troy Letherman came to Washington through Alaska, where he completed six years of service in the United States Air Force, while also coaching and serving as the director of Matanuska Soccer Club in the Palmer-Wasilla area. He also helped found AKFC, a cooperative effort from several of the clubs in the state started in order to provide more travel opportunities for talented players who otherwise didn’t get an opportunity to compete against athletes from the Lower 48. Several of those initial AKFC players went on to have very successful collegiate careers!
The father of three boys, Troy moved to Redmond with sons Bailey and Conor in 2013 and began coaching at Crossfire Premier, where Bailey played on the U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams until moving on to college soccer. In a very happy development for Dad, Bailey has decided to begin his own career in coaching and has landed with us here at Eastside FC!
As an Arsenal fan for more than two decades, Troy isn’t accustomed to watching his favorite team win trophies, but he’s been lucky enough to coach teams that have won a few, including an ECNL National Championship, multiple Washington state cups and several other major tournaments across the country. However, his biggest achievement, and what has made him most proud, are the relationships formed with the hundreds of young players he’s be so fortunate to coach. Whether they went on to bigger things in the game or not, each and every one of these relationships is the real trophy, and he’s looking forward to many more years coaching the outstanding young talent at Eastside FC.
