Birthplace

Raised in the Federal Way/Auburn area of Washington, Tony's childhood was a whirlwind of sports and activities. Football, basketball, baseball, track, soccer, wrestling, golf, biking, and skateboarding all filled his days, alongside piano recitals and singing. It was his parents' attempt to refine his running style that led him to discover soccer, a sport that ultimately captured his heart.

After focusing on soccer, Tony earned his way onto Washington’s 1990 ODP team and was selected for its Regional team. During his high school career, his teams captured 2nd and 4th in the state tournament. His youth club career began in Tacoma at Sparta and ended at FC United (later becoming Washington Premier). Tony also played in the first year of the Development Academy (DA) during his U18 season.

After being awarded a scholarship to play at St. Martin's University in Lacy, WA, Tony started all four years at center back—missing only three games. During his Sophomore campaign, Tony’s team won the GNAC championship—a first for his school in any sport. Tony’s 2009 team has since been inducted into the St. Martin’s Hall of Honor. He played two seasons in the PDL (now known as USL League Two) for the Tacoma Tide.

After a career-ending injury during a pro tryout, Tony took a position at Arena Sports in the SODO neighborhood of Seattle and instantly fell in love with coaching young players. He was also influenced by several great mentors, including Jimmy McAlistar, a favorite coach of his, and TR Stoneback, who helped him learn the Coerver Method and develop his own coaching style.

Tony has been coaching for over a decade and loves sharing the field every day with young players who want to improve and compete. Soccer has always been his number one passion and he feels blessed to make a career out of it.  First and foremost, Tony creates a culture where the players love the game and respect their teammates. Secondly, he focuses on technical excellence and 1v1 domination. He strives to shape his players into the most creative attackers, and the toughest defenders.

Tony’s teams have won five State Cups and numerous other tournaments over the last seven years. His proudest accomplishment to date a recent undefeated season in league play with his Eastside FC G2013 Red team.

Tony has been coaching both boys and girls from ages two to sixteen. He has earned a Coerver youth diploma, and holds a D coaching license. When Tony is not doing personal training, coaching at camps or continuing to further his education as a coach, he loves to tee up the golf ball, play disc golf or spend time with friends in the online gaming world. Tony’s favorite team is “the best team int he world,” Real Madrid—and that’s not even up for debate.
