Mike Mata’s journey in soccer began at the age of five. He developed as a player at Real Esppor Club's academy, a first-division professional team in Venezuela, and has remained deeply connected to the game ever since.

He holds a USSF National B Coaching License and a UEFA Grassroots Leader Certificate, and is passionate about creating fun environments that challenge players while supporting their growth both on and off the field.

With over 8 years of coaching experience, Mike has coached across 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 formats, developing players in Venezuela, Argentina, and the United States. At the youth level, he has led teams to 4x Washington Premier League titles, 3x Washington State Cup championships, 2x Copa Surf, 2x Cascade Cup, 1x Gunners Cup, and 2x Spring Classic Cup, while consistently emphasizing technical quality, intelligence, and a love for the game.

In addition to his youth coaching background, Mike has extensive experience at the semi-professional level. He previously served as Head Coach of Bellevue Athletic FC (UPSL), where he led the club to historic success, including 2x Regular Season Titles, 3x PNW Playoff Championships in Spring 2024, Fall 2024, and Fall 2025, two National Round of 16 appearances, and a National Round of 8 finish in 2025 — the furthest any team from Washington has advanced in UPSL history.

Mike is currently the Head Coach of West Seattle Junction (USL2), continuing his work at the semi-professional level while remaining fully committed to youth development.
