About Coach
Scott
Scott Song grew up in the soccer-rich community of Federal Way, Washington, a city known for developing top-tier talent and nurturing a deep love for the game. His own journey began at the age of seven, when a friend invited him to join a game — a moment that sparked a lifelong passion for soccer.
As a player, Scott competed at the highest levels of youth soccer in the region. He played for several Premier League clubs, represented Washington in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) at both the state and Region IV levels, and continued his playing career at Highline, where he further refined his understanding of the game.
Scott's transition into coaching was serendipitous. He was first asked to take over his son’s MOD team, and after just one season, he was hooked. Since then, coaching has become more than just a role — it's a calling. “I love seeing players grow — not just technically, but in their confidence and decision-making,” he says. “Watching a team come together, seeing that chemistry build — there's nothing like it.”
Scott’s coaching philosophy centers on "possession with purpose" and an unwavering work ethic. He encourages creativity, communication, and a deep understanding of both the "why" and the "how" of the game. His teams are taught to be patient, yet aggressive when opportunities arise, always striving to play smart, connected soccer.
Influenced by many coaches over the years, Scott credits those mentors for shaping the person and coach he is today. He holds a USSF D License and is actively preparing to earn his C License in September 2025.
Off the field, Scott is a dedicated family man. He lives with his wife Leah, their two sons AJ and Nathen, and a spirited dog named Kona. When he's not on the pitch, you might find him perfecting his BBQ skills — proudly calling himself a self-proclaimed Pit Boss — or working on cars. A loyal supporter of Liverpool FC, Scott brings the same passion to his coaching as he does to every aspect of life.
