About Coach
Josh
Josh grew up on Mercer Island, WA, where he played for Eastside FC and the Mercer Island High School boys soccer program. He began his coaching career in 2010, which has taken him across the United States and around the world. Domestically, Josh has coached in Washington, California (2012–2015), and Oregon (2022–2023). Internationally, his experience includes time in South Africa (2011), Brazil (2014 and 2016), and Spain (2017–2022).
Josh has pursued coaching education continuously since earning his first license in 2010. He currently holds both a UEFA B License, earned through the Scottish FA in February 2022, and a USSF B License, earned in 2025. His coaching background spans boys’ and girls’ programs from U6 through U23, with roles including head coach, assistant coach, video analyst, and physical trainer.
Most recently, Josh spent two years in Spain working with the U19s at SD Leioa, competing against some of Europe’s most historic clubs, including Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad. This experience deepened his understanding of the high technical demands and tactical sophistication of Spanish fútbol. Back in the U.S., Josh served as an Assistant Coach with USL2 Ballard FC during the 2024 and 2025 seasons and will join USL2 West Seattle Junction as an Assistant Coach for the 2026 season.
Josh is trilingual - he can speak English, Spanish and Portuguese (and he wants to learn French next!). Josh is happy to be back after living away from his hometown for over 10 years. He lives in Seattle with his dog Gustavo where you might see them going for a stroll on a sunny day!
