About Coach

Diego

Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Coach Diego Botello developed a passion for soccer through his parents and siblings, growing up immersed in the game both on the field and in front of the TV. At age 10, he moved to Washington and spent four years playing for Eastside FC before continuing his youth career in California. Along the way, Diego competed for multiple clubs, including a run to Nationals in 2016, and most recently played in the UPSL semi-professional league. Currently recovering from injury, he is working toward a return to the game as a player.

As a coach, Diego emphasizes mastering the fundamentals and technical skills that lead to long-term success. Above all, he believes effort, enjoyment, and a positive environment are essential to player development. He credits mentors such as Elliot Fauske and Hernan Garcia for helping shape his approach to the game, and he is currently working toward earning his first coaching certification.

Outside of soccer, Diego enjoys cooking, working out, and spending time with his dog, Bora. A proud supporter of his hometown club, Tigres UANL, he brings energy, passion, and a lifelong love of the game to every training session.
