Debbie Nelson is a passionate soccer enthusiast and dedicated coach. Her journey in soccer began in her native England, where she spent 25 years playing competitive soccer, honing qualities such as teamwork, patience, resilience, and adaptability. A graduate of De Montfort University, where she earned a degree in Business Studies, Debbie also holds a global accounting designation. She spent over two decades in corporate finance, with a role at Microsoft leading her to the Pacific Northwest, where she now calls Mercer Island home.

Debbie's coaching journey was inspired by her family's involvement with Eastside FC. Her two children play at the club, igniting her desire to give back to the sport she loves. She is thrilled to be working with some of the younger teams, where her approach goes beyond the field. Debbie firmly believes in coaching the whole person, recognizing that soccer is not only about the sport but also about personal growth, camaraderie, and lifelong skills. With a focus on creating a fun and safe environment, Debbie believes in fostering a culture where players embrace the opportunity to learn and where friendships flourish. Her coaching philosophy is built on respect, encouragement, and a commitment to developing well-rounded individuals, both on and off the pitch.

Beyond her coaching commitments, Debbie and her family are devoted soccer fans. They hold season tickets for Sounders and Manchester United, and they take their love for the game to new heights by combining travel with attendance at major women's tournaments across the world. In her downtime, Debbie finds fulfillment in running and giving back to her community through volunteering.
