Hello Eastside Families!
Parker Jones is a remarkable young man. I have had the pleasure of coaching Parker for the last 4 years. During this time, Parker has served as one of the team's captains and, in this role, he has always lead by example and forged strong relationships with his teammates so they trust that when he gives feedback, it is sincere. While working with Parker, I have continuously been impressed by his thoughtfulness, kindness, and empathy for others.
Two years ago, while in a game, Parker broke his hip. He went through a long recovery and rehab period and just before he was about to be cleared for non-contact activities, he broke his other hip. While I know Parker was devastated with this setback and adversity thrown his way, he handled all the emotions he was feeling and found ways to acknowledge and process them so he was able to come back stronger as a player and as a person.
Since then, Parker has gone on to become an author! His book, 'I feel...' was written to help teens cope with the impact their feelings have on their mental health. He takes the reader through negative emotions and gives advice on how to acknowledge, understand, and work through them. With the stress that teens can be under, this book is a helpful guide written to help empower them to overcome anything they are feeling.Visit https://withparker.com/ to look at his book.
Parker was also recently recognized by the Seattle Sounders as the 2019 CHI Franciscan Community Hero of the Year for the 13-18 year old age group! He was a guest of honor of the Sounders for the last home game of the year, was celebrated on the field before the match kicked off, and received an award for his work in his community.
Eastside FC is VERY proud of Parker for all he has done for his team, club, and community and we are excited to see what the future holds for this champion in life!
