Eastside FC alum Freddy Kleemann was selected in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by Austin FC. Selected 11th overall, Kleemann, a 6'4 Center Back will begin his rookie season with the MLS expansion team.  Kleemann began his youth journey with Eastside FC and played with the B98 Red for 6 years prior to moving to Newbury Park, California in high school.

"Eastside FC was the Club where my soccer career began, without it I would not be where I am today," said Kleemann. "Eastside FC gave me a supportive home to grow as a player while still enjoying the beautiful game of soccer. Many of my teammates from Eastside FC are still my good friends today and I am still in contact with some of the great coaches I was lucky enough to learn from. I am proud to be a part of the Eastside family and I would like to thank the whole organization for supporting me early in my playing career."

Kleeman returned to Seattle to play at the University of Washington. “We are very happy for and proud of our former player Freddy Kleemann being drafted by Austin FC in MLS." said EFC Executive Director, Chance Fry. "When I heard the news it brought me back to my own experience being drafted by the Sounders 40 years ago. I knew the feeling he had and when I connected with Freddy and his dad, they were extremely excited and thankful for his time at EFC. On behalf of the club, we wish Freddy all the best!”
