The wall is your perfect passing partner, who will always give you exactly the same pass it received. When you get a great pass back from the wall, you are doing it right!
Considerations
-
Focused repetition is key to mastery
-
Take breaks, or change exercises if you start to lose concentration
-
Some days may be harder than others, but then you break through with confidence
-
-
Quality is more important than speed
-
Always try to increase your speed, while maintaining quality
-
-
Progress to more advanced touches after mastering simpler ones
-
Always practice with your weaker foot
-
Consider the speed of pass, keeping ball flush on the ground, with accuracy
-
15-30 minutes allows for up to 1000 touches!
Wall Work Out Guidance
-
Pick a distance from the wall that allows you to hit ball hard enough for it to return to you
-
Pay attention to your body shape and balance after striking to ball
-
Your plant foot should be right next to the ball, and pointed straight ahead
-
Many younger players do not get plant foot positioning correct
-
-
The foot striking the ball should be locked firm to create a solid surface
-
Start with simple 2 touch passing and receiving
-
Master this BEFORE any other wall drills
-
-
Progress to 1 touch after two touches are mastered
-
Every player should start each workout with the simple touches
