Aaron Libed (lee-BED) begins his first year at Eastside FC after two successful seasons at Seattle United. Before working with United, Aaron served on the the Technical and Media staffs of Greater Seattle Surf and Northwest Nationals. In his first year with United, Aaron guided his G09 Tango to their first State Championship and his B07 Nova finished the year as President’s Cup Finalists. In his time with Northwest Nationals, Aaron guided the B97 Red to the U16 US Club Northwest Regional Championship in 2014.

Aaron was raised on the island of Maui and later moved to Honolulu to complete his degree from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. He began his coaching career at Kamehameha Schools where he became one of the youngest varsity coaches in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu at twenty-one. During this early period, Aaron was also an assistant coach with the University of Hawaii Wahine Soccer program. Aaron also began his professional playing career with the Hawaii Tsunami of the USISL.

Aaron has led successful high school teams at Mid-Pacific Institute and worked with Punahou School, where he helped win two state championships with the Buff ’n Blue in 2010 and 2011. Aaron also founded New Hope Soccer along with Senior Pastor Wayne Cordeiro of New Hope Christian Fellowship. The Coed team was a pioneer, competing in community leagues as a Christian team-a first for church teams in Hawaii. Since then, New Hope won 20 of 24 Coed seasons and will be remembered as one of the most successful adult soccer teams in Hawaii history.

Over the last twenty years, Aaron began coaching on the club level with Mililani Soccer Club, Vaiete SC, and Hawaii Rush. He has worked with practically every age group and gender since, from the U17-U19 boys premier teams to the U7-U10 developmental groups. Over that time, Aaron also became Coaching Director with Vaiete SC in 2004 and then the Rush Developmental Program in 2010. In 2011, Aaron was invited to the Hawaii Olympic Development Staff where he served as the ’98 Boys Staff Coach. Current S2 Captain Shandon Hopeau was one of Aaron’s players on the Hawaii ’98  team that competed in the Far West ODP Championships in Phoenix. Aaron holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma.

Aside from soccer, Aaron is also a former professional musician and sound engineer. He has played in several bands and symphonies as a trumpeter.  He also played acoustic guitar with several well-known Hawaii artists such as Willie K, Lopaka Colon, and Jake Shimabukuro. Aaron also owns Creator Image and MediaWorks, a photo and video company that specializes in sports, portrait, and architecture photography, and video production.

When not on the touchline, he can often be seen with camera equipment at various club events. Aaron’s hobbies include: playing guitar and singing, shooting bad guys on the PS4, listening to Rascal Flatts, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, and MercyMe. He is married to Samantha (Obara) Libed, a former University of Washington, Santa Clara, and United States U-20 National Team player. They have three children: Nyla, Avery, and Lucas.
